My Story
My story starts in 2015 as a very frustrated customer, who was looking to find solutions to a persistent issue: cold and damp feet.
In 2010 I traveled the world for an entire year, experiencing different climates and landscapes with extreme temperature variations (-25°C to 45°C). A year later, I started my business studies which involved countless hours of studying and sitting behind a desk. Amidst it all, a consistent problem emerged: cold and humid feet, every single day. And no matter the weather, this issue never ceased to exist.
Despite trying everything from merino wool to alpaca socks , and even very expensive and functional socks, I never found the ideal (and affordable) solution. I would dread the moment when I had to put shoes on for the entire day, because I knew I would get cold and uncomfortable in my shoes...
On top of that, it seemed that the perfect material did not exist, as wool caused itching and synthetics resulted in unpleasant odors. Coton was good but not that great either. However, things changed when I started as a commercial agent for a premium baby mattress brand in 2015, whose cover contained a material called "Tencel", used for its impressive moisture-resistant properties...
Despite this great finding, I still wanted to better understand why people experienced "cold feet." Except for medical reasons, humidity was actually the consistent wrongdoer. Linking one with the other, I chose to use Tencel, who has humidity absorption abilities surpassing cotton by 50%, while offering a warm feel in winter and a cool feel in summer. It is also extremely soft, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic, and odor-resistant.
Now I had found the material, I still needed to test it. I ordered and cut a basic white baby mattress cover into a sock-like shape, and carefully stitched it together in the shape of sock. After a few days of imposing these experimental socks on one foot and regular ones on the other foot to different family members (and myself!), the results were noticeable. The Tencel socks were working better and delivering the results I had been looking for, for so long! It gave me a real "aha-moment" and an incredible sense of accomplishment.
Unfortunately, I didn't give it any more attention for years as life "happened"'... but I rekindled this passion project in between jobs in 2020. I found a factory in Turkey, had prototypes made, refined, and improved. Then my career once again overtook my attention but my 30th birthday and becoming a mother, provided yet again, new opportunities for reflection. Despite it all, almost 10 years had passed, I still had the same problem, did not find a solution and I just no longer could get it out of my head.
